As part of my MSc dissertation, I was selected for a Research Fellowship with the UNDP and the Global Resilience Partnership to work with locally led climate change adaptation projects in Kenya and South Africa. My research focuses on capacity building for adaptation in agriculture and the food system, applying stakeholder interviews and qualitative data analysis to explore approaches, enablers, and challenges. My fieldwork with these projects has provided firsthand insights into practical, community-level approaches to adaptation and how the wider system, including public and private sector stakeholders, can support initiatives and capacity building.

The research focused on infrastructure investment case studies to build an evidence case for strengthening UK systemic resilience to climate change by mobilizing finance for resilient infrastructure in developing countries. I applied a cost-benefit analysis methodology to infrastructure investments and determined direct and indirect impacts across stakeholders, to support a narrative on the importance of development interventions, including blended finance, in overcoming investment barriers.
