Mike is an internationally experienced serial entrepreneur, corporate director and builder of distinctive life science and healthcare businesses. Working with investors, boards and management teams in the private and public sector to identify and develop valuable, impactful opportunities, Mike has a track record of developing and leading strategically robust global business development strategies based on innovation, R&D, M&A transactions and partnering in biosciences, healthcare (pharmaceutical and medical technology), flavour & food ingredients and nutrition sectors. Mike's initial 20 year corporate career was with Unilever, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Royal Numico where he ran international businesses in health, nutrition and bio-ingredients, before joining the private equity/venture sector. Since 2000, Mike has founded, invested in and been a corporate director of multiple early-stage companies and has also advised several governments and public sector agencies on innovation, privatization, technology transfer, value creation and 'impact' delivery. He has advised on / led over 20 transactions and strategic partnerships with a combined value of over $2 billion including multiple mergers, integrations, managed a $100million venture portfolio and has served on 18 boards in UK, USA, Sweden, Netherlands and Singapore. He is currently a director of Health Ventures Ltd, Gordian Pharma Ltd (an oncology drug development company) and co-founder / CEO of EDX Medical Group Plc, a fast-growing providers of digital molecular diagnostics in the clinical sector. Mike obtained a BSc, PhD, DIC and ARCS in Life Sciences from Imperial College, where he was awarded a Scholarship in Life Sciences, an Exhibition in Science and the Governors Graduation Prize. His PhD was sponsored by Tenneco Corporation and he was awarded a Spencer Scholarship to collaborate with Oregon & Washington State Universities. He completed the Unilever Business Education Programme and the International Leadership Programme at Indiana State University sponsored by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Mike is married with 4 children, is a keen gardener and lover of the great outdoors. Resident in the UK, he has travelled and worked extensively in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
