Responsible for content, copy, and mechanical editing for articles submitted to the journal related to the topics of sovereignty, foreign policy, asymmetric warfare, counterinsurgency, and ethnic conflict.

During this research internship, I was part of a small group of graduates assisting two professors in the initial research for an upcoming book about divided societies. My role within the research group was to arrange travel between the South and the North, coordinating meetings via the interviewees’ assistants, preparing questions for each interviewee, and transcribing said interviews for future use by the professors.

In addition to hosting the events themselves, I was responsible for liaising with speakers, presenting speaker panels, and ensuring the smooth operation of three separate official TED events. This high-profile speaking role allowed me to improve my speechwriting and public speaking skills, as well as my interpersonal skills through engaging with dozens of professionals from various industries and vocations.

This internship, undertaken over three weeks in the Austrian Embassy in Baku, was both as an assistant to the current ambassador and to aid me in an independent research project. While I both shadowed and assisted the ambassador in his general diplomatic activites. the majority of my time was spent researching the ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, for which I was allowed to use the embassy's resources and connections. I independently arranged and conducted 4 interviews with the ambassadors of France, Hungary, Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as a political expert from the American embassy, to assess perceptions of the conflict and its international salience. My research also took me to the border of the Nagorno-Karabakh region itself, to the town of Terter, Western Azerbaijan. This allowed me to witness its ramifications firsthand and gave me an understanding of the conflict's permanent ramifications for the citizens of the region that my other research had failed to do. My research culminated in a 5000 word paper, assessing the effectiveness of international efforts to address the conflict, which is currently awaiting publication.

This job was primarily as an assistant to a spokesperson on foreign affairs in the offices of the Austrian Parliament. This involved accompanying him to meetings with foreign representatives and taking minutes, as well as ensuring the offices were well kept for such events. While these meetings were primarily conducted in English, this internship required me to gain a basic grasp of German which I have maintained to today.
