As the Software Team Lead, I oversaw the software development lifecycle across the company - implementing and training staff on new workflows and technologies as the software team grew.This included: introducing code reviews, automated builds and testing, CICD and some agile practices such as sprint retrospectives, planning meetings and standups. I led further work on the AttentionTrace tool for additional capabilities, and assisted in creating a programmatic API to allow deep integration within client tooling.

I joined Amplified Intelligence as a freelancer to join their small software team to help transition the company from a research organisation to a software business. Working across all arms of the company, I identified and automated some critical workflows to drastically improve the speed and reliability of delivering customer data. I built this into an internal company platform that could be accessed by staff.I architected and built AttentionTrace - the first SaaS product of Amplified Intelligence. It provides customers subscription based access to filterable company data to help plan campaigns, optimising for Amplified's attention data. During this time I also helped modernise and implement new data collection scripts.

I built a prototype application for consuming customer financial data, as a demonstrator for calculating and displaying financial KPIs in an intuitive way, as well as allowing the exploration to develop and construct new indicators. The demonstrator consumed real financial data from a major platform, processed it and stored it in a multi-tenant system accessible via a dashboard UI developed in React.

As a Software Engineer at Gamurs, I helped build GamerAI - a computer vision platform for reviewing and analysing various e-sport titles (cancelled in 2019). GamerAI is a tool which professional and casual gamers alike use to automatically capture footage of their gameplay. The footage is analysed using our computer vision models, and the resultant data and videos uploaded to distributed cloud storage.Key events which occurred during the match are identified and placed in a decentralised search engine such that we are able to provide meaningful statistics from the data and display it on our web frontend in a user-friendly manner.Some skills and technologies I developed during my time at Gamurs included:- Using F# to build a .NET Core desktop application- Fable (F# to Javascript + React) to build a responsive web interface- Elasticsearch to index and aggregate data from user’s matches- Integrating computer vision models to analyse frames from gamesOther skills included:- Utilising serverless computing to provide a scalable product- Buildkite CICD for automated deployment- Functional reactive programming for both the UI and backend code

As an engineer on the Beat the News R&D program I was primarily involved in developing and extending data pipelines. This included building data ingestion libraries, classifying and adapting data to a meaningful representation, and indexing the data to make it searchable.In conjunction with the pipelines I helped develop a robust front-end for exploring and analysing this data. Many components in this system were built as microservices, which provided me with valuable DevOps experience - as much of our infrastructure was self-managed and provisioned.I used a broad range of technologies such as:Elasticsearch, Java (Spring Boot), Angular 2+, Javascript, Typescript, Git, Maven, Python, PostgreSQL, Linux servers among others.
