Conducts market analysis in order to monitor and evaluate own (and competitors) assortment in terms of price, quality, availability, packaging, stock level and seasonal perspective.Actively develops the assortment by sourcing and introducing new products based on customer needs, enabling the achievement of sales and margin targets and deleting non-performing articles using the assortment matrix model.Negotiates general and Makro mail buying terms with suppliers in order to maintain or improve competitive promotional as well as regular prices.Achieves the budgeted operating income margin for the product group by active margin managementEnsures regular and frequent organized formal meetings with suppliers and clearly communicates the results of these meetings for easy follow-up and control) Cooperates and maintains good relationship with suppliers who are reliable in providing good quality products and continuity in supply; monitor suppliers’ position in the marketEnsures that both article and supplier data are being encoded in the computerized systemEnsures that product quality meets both Makro and government-legislated standards and customers’ expectations.Produces an effective Makro Mail program which will achieve sales expectations and other income targets and creates excitement in the stores.Provides all necessary information and documents (i.e. article, supplier, ordering, promotions) to the stores.Makes regular store visits to build a relationship with Sales organization, receive customer feedback and detect operational problems and follows-up on article quality and presentation.Gives all the necessary information to supervises over the Assistant Buyer to enable the Assistant Buyer to execute duties.

New Product Introduction, new Category Introduction, Benchmarking.Managing supply chain by forecasting sales. This also includes managing stock outs and season shortages. Obtaining offers from suppliers on primary and secondary sales. We also have to make sure the offers are exclusive and lucrative. Category analysis is done to ensure the category is up to the mark and is in sync with its respective market. Competitor analysis is done on a regular basis to stay ahead of the business.Assisting management in making key strategic decisions.
