Direct Support Professional
CurrentThe role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. As an educated Social Advisor, I work closely with my assigned clients to support their personal growth and emotional well-being. My primary responsibility is to guide clients through daily and future conflict resolution, providing them with the tools and strategies one may need to manage and overcome such challenges.I offer counseling sessions upon request, addressing issues related to living with a disability and serving as a personal coach in areas such as communication, socialization, individualization, and goal setting. Additionally, I advocate vigorously for clients on the autistic spectrum, addressing their diverse needs, which (may, but not always) include transportation, mental and situational awareness, meditation, and physical activities such as yoga, hiking, and exercise.I maintain detailed and organized records of each client's personal information, interests, obstacles, and goals. This information helps in creating a tailored plan to achieve their desired outcomes. My role also involves assisting clients with daily activities including hygiene, nutrititon, creativity, and embarking on enjoyable activities and events the individual client will experience and appreciate. The aim being to enhance their overall comfort and happiness.I take pride in delivering these specialized services and contributing to the well-being of our ever-expanding disabled community.
