At the time of vehicle purchase, some consumers are caught up in emotional aspects – which sleek color is the best, the need for the latest electronic features or what does this car, truck or SUV say about me? However years later when the color is a little faded and those electronic features are no longer cutting edge, it is the vehicle's durability that creates or erodes brand loyalty. Durability points them towards or away from their next purchase. That is why I am passionate about vehicle durability. The challenging part of vehicle durability is it comes in many forms: ability to be corrosion resistant, ability to keep water out so short-circuits are not created and functionality is maintained. Durability from a vehicle body structural standpoint might be the most important, especially in the critical milli-seconds during impact, just after a slick road sends the vehicle into a tree or on-coming traffic. In my 26 years at Henkel I have had several positions. These roles have provided experience in launching metal pre-treatment chemicals, static sealing packages, pumpable body and paint sealers and structural adhesives. In addition to launching these technologies, I have led global teams of design engineers that developed seven static body sealing packages for a major OEM customer in N. America and China. My passion for improving vehicle durability always keeps me thinking “How can we help the new college graduate, who is buying their first new vehicle, turn into a repeat customer that buys the same brand for the next 30 years”?
