501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization involved with providing opportunities for Vietnamese youth organizations from across the Midwest of the US to network with one another, share common resources, and collaborate on philanthropy projects. Main duties revolved around leading a Council of State Representatives in developing event and activity opportunities for college students (as well as high school students) to be nurtured into leadership positions, hosting region-wide conferences (of upwards to 300 attendees) focused on leadership and cultural development, and creating a sense of community for Vietnamese youths throughout the Midwest of the US.Had the privilege to work with a diverse group of talented individuals from all over the US. Developed skills in interacting with people of various backgrounds as well as the ability to effectively and efficiently collaborate through various means of media due to non-centralized locations. Other responsibilities included overseeing all intra-organizational issues such as roles and responsibilities of board members as well as assisting the President on certain matters and acted as the leader in the absence of the President.

Summer internship involving the steel manufacturing industry and experience gained on how electrical and computer engineering is implemented within the industry. Main challenges revolved around updating plate mill operation computer systems by configuring and implementing Wyse thin clients in replacement of outdated computers. Contributions increased floor productivity and efficiency within the plate mills with positive results and feedback from operators of the updated computer systems. Side projects included developing and creating programs and web interfaces for steel production analyses and reports using data extracted from databases.Learned many concepts behind the steel manufacturing industry and was able to gain hands-on experience with how heavy machinery automated by software and code could produce quality steel and steel-related products. Worked together and engaged in real scenarios with process automation engineering teams to effectively and efficiently tackle challenges with strong solutions.

Main objectives revolved around researching and pitching viable options in regards to using cloud server technology or physical in-house servers for patent data collection.Was also able to gain a better understanding of patents and patent laws pertaining to bio-medical engineering topics for the patent searching program deliverable. Interacted and became familiar with governmental websites such as the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website.
