Dr. Hines holds a Ph.D. in microbial ecology, conducting research at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at Florida Atlantic University (USA). Current research interests include the biodiversity and biogeography of ciliates, and the impact they have within ecosystems. Tardigrades and adaptations of other microbes to stress (e.g. barometric pressure) is another current project.
