Research is the most rewarding when it goes according to a hypothesis, although personally, I want to say it is the most fun when faced with unexpected results. Through completing some of my courses, such as the SEA-Phages program, where we isolate bacteria phages and attempt to have them sequenced. The observations that stood out to me the most in that course where:- Everyone identified a different sample, all with varying results. Keeping tabs on my information because only I know my phage best. As time with my sample increased, I learned how useful it is to have accurate notes.- All research is beneficial. Not everyone was able to sequence their phage, some because of titer, others because of electrophoresis. Finding ways to work around or with these difficulties are great experiences for critical thinking roles. Regardless, the data I recorded was not applicable to these specific experiments, but that does not mean it may not be important for someone later.Whatever I dedicate my time to will only get my best. If you keep doing your best, you can only get better.
