About Hunter Simington

Hunter Simington is a Director of Software Architecture at Truckstop.com. They possess expertise in android, java, agile methodologies, c#, eclipse and 44 more skills. Colleagues describe them as "It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Hunter Simington. I have had the privilege of knowing Hunter for a little over two years, with the majority of that time spent in a mentoring capacity. Over that time, I have come to appreciate and respect Hunter as a true technical leader within our organization. I was first introduced to Hunter as we engaged with an external partner to evaluate their software solution as a key strategic offering for our printing solutions portfolio. At the time, Hunter was a software project manager whose team was responsible for evaluating the technical aspects of the solution and prototyping potential incremental functionality for that solution, and it quickly became apparent that Hunter operated at a level well above what I had come to expect from most project managers. It was clear that he brought a level of technical skill to the role that exceeded many of his engineers, as he ended up actually working on many of the prototypes himself to help accelerate the results. Maybe more impressive than his technical skill, however, was his ability to think strategically at a business level. Instead of discussing how to get technical solutions working, our interactions often centered around how this particular solution fit into our portfolio across multiple routes to market, how the partnership fit into the strategic direction for our business, and other opportunities we may have to really drive our business strategy. As a result of his good work and unique insight, the organization gave Hunter a well-deserved promotion to the role of Master Architect. Since that time I have had the opportunity to get to know and appreciate Hunter much more through our monthly mentoring syncs. While we engaged in this relationship as a mentor and mentee, it very quickly became more a relationship of peers and one where we both learn from each other with every meeting. Over that time, three main items have stuck out as key strengths for Hunter. First is his ability to contribute significant technical capabilities, but to do so through the lens of exceptional business acumen. This combination makes him a perfect candidate for customer-facing events where technical depth is required but it needs to be presented in a way that really speaks to the customer's business needs. Second is Hunter's ability to think strategically even beyond the scope of his own project or organization. Hunter will always think in terms of the "big picture" even if it results in a sub-optimal direction for his team, and this is especially evident as we discuss topics that involve cross-organizational initiatives. Lastly, I think Hunter does exceptionally well communicating to all levels of the organization. As I mentioned earlier, he can adeptly talk technical details with any engineer, but can also articulate complicated topics in simple terms that executives can understand and embrace. Hunter regularly communicates with executives and does so in a way", "Hunter's combination of cloud-related technical design skills and his real-world understanding of how people actually use cloud software solutions enable him to not only cast a technical product vision, but gather the buy-in from stakeholders in order to gain consensus on technical architectures and product plans that set the stage for actually building working solutions that people will actually want to use. On the personal front, Hunter is a man of high character and empathy. Always personable and always calm, Hunters shows a "can do" attitude--even under difficult circumstances. He is pragmatic and a realist. Added together, Hunter is a very valuable talent when it comes to taking a cloud solution vision and turning it into reality through state-of-the-art architecture, design, and product planning.", and "I have known Hunter professionally for many years now and have been directly impressed by his unique ability to balance what is right for the customer with what is right for the business. Whether directly developing solutions himself for the Android platform or overseeing a group of engineers reviewing current product issues, he consistently exhibits qualities commonly found in successful business people. Hunter is personable, technically astute, communicative and extremely well organized. He is well respected by his peers as well as his direct reports and strives for excellence in everything he does. I truly believe any employer would be lucky to have Hunter as part of their team."

Listed skills include Android, Java, Agile Methodologies, C#, and 45 others.
