  • Lcra
Vice President, Finance; Innovative Finance, Corporate Finance, & Corporate Development
    Lcra Jan 2015 - Jul 2018
    Austin, Texas Area
Recruited to serve as a member of the senior leadership team and as chief advisor/deputy to the CFO. Responsibilities include Corporate Development/M&A, oversight of project and corporate finance activities, capital market transactions, analyzing contracts and legal statutes, identifying new financing techniques and arbitrage opportunities, negotiating transactions, and turning around certain business lines. Through being put on various special projects involving the business and capital structure, I drove more than $950 million in value (cost reduction ~300 million, changes to the capital structure ~450 million, corporate and business development ~200 million). Select accomplishments include:- Assembled a cross-functional team to study the best utilization of telecom related assets, which included thorough collection and analysis of market, operational, statistical, risk, financial and qualitative data. The result was a complex structure that included a divestiture; I then led the M&A process and negotiations to divest and enter into a long-term marketing and revenue share agreement. The final price exceeded “expert’s” high-end case with a 19x multiple of cash flow.- Took over financial management and successfully restructured a $255 million capital project. Constructed multiple decision models and scenarios to find the most efficient execution; reducing total capex funding need by ~$56 million, freeing up ~$83 million of cash in the next 4 years ($130 million of cash over the life of the project), and reducing O&M and lifecycle costs by over 50%.- Led capital market transactions and certain consulting projects, sourcing and managing internal and external teams.- Reevaluated and renegotiated relationships with banks and financial advisors, changing teams, terms and expectations that have led to improved coverage and millions saved in fees and interest costs.
