Executive leader of operations for the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the United States. Build on strong association experience, having helped grow the staff from 17 to more than 70 people, and planning for a staff of nearly 100 in the next six months.Transform operations to support the digital workplace post-pandemic for staff in the 25+ states and landscapes we work in beyond the Washington metro area.Innovate to strengthen operations across critical business areas:Finance:• Review and approve monthly and annual financial reporting for senior management, the president & CEO and the Board of Directors. Work with accountants to ensure compliance with GAAP.• Oversee audit process, with all 8 years of audit reporting having returned clean audits without management concerns.• Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for the organization.• Coordinate all annual audit activities, as well as the IRS Form 990 submission.• Ensure that there are appropriate banking and treasury services at a reasonable rate.• Maintain reserve fund with the guidance of the Finance Committee.Human resources:• Ensure HR policies are fair and understood by all employees.• Assist the president & CEO to implement progressive workplace policies and crate an effective organizational culture.• Design and implement the benefits package.Business operations:• Ensure compliance with regulations that affect the organization such as charitable solicitation licenses.• Execute projects for the CEO related to the board, staff and outside organizations, including confidential and sensitive matters.• Oversee logistics, including National Learning Labs, board meetings and events.Technology initiatives:• Manage external tech vendors and provide direction.• Work with communications team to update and develop new features and maintain the American Forests website.• Equip staff with the tech, tools and training to be effective.
