As a Research Data Scientist at The Alan Turing Institute's Defence AI Research Centre, I combine advanced AI and ML techniques to address complex challenges in defence. My doctoral research in developmental neurobiology, which focused on applying deep neural networks to understand brain development, has equipped me with strong mathematical foundations and expertise in implementing sophisticated machine learning solutions in complex problem spaces.Throughout my research, I have gained proficiency in Python, which I have used extensively to conduct machine learning analyses of complex datasets. Throughout my work, I tested the efficacy of the large array of open-source machine learning libraries available in Python, allowing me to have a deep understanding of multiple highly relevant and contemporary ideas in the machine learning space. In addition to programming and analysis, I have successfully mentored PhD, Master's and Undergraduate students in machine learning. My experience in mentoring has not only helped me develop my leadership skills, but has also allowed me to hone my ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.I am a confident presenter, having regularly presented complex research data and analyses to various stakeholders since 2018, as well as presenting my research at national and international conferences. Please do get in touch if you're interested in chatting more about my work.Key skills:⁍ Deep learning (TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, some JAX).⁍ Machine learning (scikit-learn)⁍ Hyperparameter tuning and optimisation⁍ Proficient user of linux HPC systems (e.g., JADE 2).Current research interests:⁍ Multimodal learning⁍ Feature extraction⁍ Physics-informed Neural Networks⁍ Biologically inspired ML
