Musician In ResidenceSabhal Mor Ostaig 1999 - 2006Isle Of SkyeSabhal Mòr Ostaig is the only college of its kind in the world offering further and higher education opportunities through the medium of Scottish Gaelic. Sabhal Mòr Ostaig host an Artist in Residency programme with support from Creative Scotland and the Royal Scottish Academy of Art (RSA) in Edinburgh. Many of the Scotland’s leading Gaelic writers have subsequently brought their work and influence to bear on these important residencies. Sorley Maclean, whose work informed and inspired successive generations of writers, poets and artists throughout the world, including the great Irish Nobel Prize Winning writer, Seumas Heaney, who attended a special event at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig during his visit to Hallaig on Raasay, the setting of one of MacLean’s great epic poems.Some of Scotland’s most influential contemporary Gaelic poets and writers, including Aonghas (Dubh) MacNeacail, Angus Peter Campbell and Alasdair (a' Bhocsair) Campbell amongst others, have also featured. The post of Musician in Residence was established a number of years ago, when Piper, Iain MacDonald of Glenuig took up the position and more recently the Scottish Arts Council agreed to support a Visual Artist in Residence post.The post of Musician in Residence has been filled by Blair Douglas, Mary Anne Kennedy who who took over from Mairead Stewart who replaced Allan Henderson... -
MemberOssian / Battlefield Band 1981 - 1996Travelled the world with Ossian for 9 years or so with guest appearances with other bands. Was involved in the beginning of the Highland band 'Wolfstone'. Later joined Battlefield Band and did the same for about 6 years until I came off the road and became Musician in Residence at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Gaelic college on the Isle of Skye.

Gaelic Repertory Theatre CoFir Chlis Jul 1978 - 1981After working for Marine Harvest Fish Farm in Lochailort and a few stints on prawn boats and a fishing trawler in Skye, went on to become a founding member of the very first Gaelic Repertory Theatre Company based in The Isle of Harris in the Western Isles. Travelled all over Scotland and as far as London performing with this small band of actors & Musicians. Very successful and fully supported by the Scottish Arts Council but failed to be supported by the Western Isles Council so had to disband after 3 or so years. Did a few more theatre tours with 7:84 and various musical collaborations, joined folk Band 'Ossian.
