Currently legal counsel at DAZN, a sports media and OTT streaming service. I am responsible for managing the IP portfolio of DAZN (incl trade marks, patents and copyright). My role includes clearance and filing work, brand enforcement, anti-piracy measures, online infringements as well as various commercial and corporate activities to support the business as it launches in new territories. Before joining Perform (now Dazn) I was a Senior Assocaite at Thomas Eggar (now Irwin Mitchell) where I was building up the trade mark filing practice. In June 2012, I joined Pritchard Englefield as an IP Associate within the Corporate and Commercial department, I spent a year at Field Fisher Waterhouse, working as a solicitor in the Trade mark and Brand protection team, where I acted for international brand owners either entering the EU market and/or expanding their operations to MENA and BRIC countries.Between 2005 to 2010, having moved to the UK from South Africa, I joined the in-house trade mark department of GlaxoSmithKline, responsible for filing, prosecution and enforcement of a large trade mark portfolio, globally. I also assisted in anti-counterfeiting strategy and implementation; parallel imports in the EU as well as supporting commercial operations. During my time there I progressed through the ITMA trade mark qualifications and completed my conversion course to become a Solicitor.I qualified as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2005, having completed my training at the respected IP Law firm, DM Kisch, Inc, where I gained experience in all aspects of brand protection and enforcement before the trade mark registry and high court litigation (passing off) as well as Copyright, Company law and Domain name disputes.
