Profile bio

About Iain Sinclair

In pursuing a MSc Postgraduate degree in Global Strategy and Sustainability, I hope to deepen my understanding of climate related risks and opportunities facing the international business environment. My dissertation project entitled "Changing Institutional Norms: How ESG impacts Global Equity Transactions" researched evolving business practices through both an economic and sociological lens and explored shifts in expectations of reporting requirements, data quality and compliance as well as compiling interview data from investors, CEOs and financial services providers. This project both strengthened my grasp on sustainability issues from both academic and industry perspectives, but also grew my interest in understanding and solving the problems companies face in this unprecedented transitional period.During my undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh I pursued a holistic and international understanding of business by supplementing core modules with politics, anthropology and languages. Outside of academia, I have worked alongside other students in providing tangible solutions to companies and charities while with 180DC and BSI Consulting with all kinds of projects, from a Sustainable Fashion charity to a Hydrogen Marketplace start-up. I strongly believe that Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but an essential component of best-practice that is not only quantifiable, but discerns the best organisations. In order to future-proof businesses, nations and the entire world, understanding and implementing robust and measurable change is essential. My passion comes not only from the importance of these issues but from also how universal these challenges are and will become. I look forward to learning more in everything I do, and aim to make a difference during my lifetime.
