The Unitrans IT Manager is responsible for all things related to technology. I am primarily responsible for leading the IT Department personnel and directing the development of technology solutions that address company process problems. I hold the roles of project manager and architect for web applications that handle payroll processing, time keeping, HR employee tracking, customer interaction reporting, employee scheduling, and tracking safety issues related to Unitrans operations.Beyond those main components of the position, IT Manager is also responsible for ensuring proper execution of desktop support, server setup and maintenance, asset control, and technology replacement planning and purchasing.

Responsible for developing web applications using PHP, Python, Django, Flask, and PostgreSQL. I worked with department managers to identify gaps that the web application could help fill. After identifying the department needs I would work with members of the department and management, to ensure that the end product met their needs.

I learned to drive a bus in the first month in the job. Other aspects of the position took time to develop.A safety first mindset is the most important quality I developed in the position. Safe operation of the transportation network is the most important trait of any service where people put their lives in someone else's hands.Learning to be patient and understanding with customers is something that I started developing in my first week and continued to develop through all 5 years.Being a reliable employee and co-worker is not only desired but a requirement. Unitrans relies on the timeliness of operations to provide an attractive transportation option for the residents and visitors to the area.

I was responsible for scheduling all drivers (175 employees) three times a quarter. Near the end of each of those processes I would lead a company wide meeting consisting of approximately 225 employees. I was also responsible for creating, modifying, implementing, and maintaining processes and procedures pertaining to employee scheduling. I would focus on building processes with priority on flexibility for the employee, consistency between employees, and efficiency. I administered the employee disciplinary system for all of my direct reports (drivers listed above), as well as any department that requested to participate. The system was used to influence employee actions including: promotion, scheduling, probation, suspension, and termination. I also oversaw the hiring for all Unitrans positions to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

I used source documentation to process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for all employees within the company (225 people). Compile payroll reports for employees and management, including overtime, backpay, raise sheets, and overall payroll per departmental account. I helped to ensure proper compliance to on and off boarding policies for employees. I also, acted as a resource for employees with questions regarding how their pay has been compiled and to correct any errors if they were discovered.

Evaluation of business processes within ASUCD Unitrans to identify possible technology aids to manual stages. Develop web based tools to help staff members complete their responsibilities more efficiently and with a higher level of quality.
