Hi, I’m Diego! Born in Lisbon, Portugal, into a truly international family, I’ve always been surrounded by multiple cultures and languages. With a Spanish-Swiss father and a Portuguese mother, I had the incredible privilege of growing up speaking English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. This multicultural upbringing gave me a global perspective from an early age and sparked my love for traveling and meeting new people.From a young age, sports were a huge part of my life, and tennis quickly became the one where I really stood out. At just 11 years old, I made the exciting (and slightly nerve-wracking) move to Barcelona to train at one of the best tennis academies in the world. There, I balanced my studies at an American school with intense tennis training and international tournaments. It was a unique environment filled with teammates and classmates from around the globe, which helped broaden my worldview even more.After graduating as the salutatorian of my high school class, I faced a big decision: pursue a professional tennis career or follow my academic ambitions. I chose the latter and moved to the U.S. to attend Illinois State University. There, I continued playing tennis at the Division I level while pursuing a double major in Business Administration and Marketing. Juggling academics and athletics was tough, but I thrived under the challenge, ultimately graduating magna cum laude and with honors in my majors. Oh, and I was also a proud member of the Honors College! 🎓🎾In 2022, I decided it was time to explore something new beyond the tennis court. I entered the workforce and found my place at Henkel in the Adhesive Technologies segment. Now, instead of hitting tennis balls, I apply my business skills to help develop solutions for industries that rely on Henkel’s products.
