This role involved the deployment and support of an Oracle Red Stack environment for an Oracle Platinum Partner. The environment consists of and extensive Oracle VM Infrastructure with a ZFS Appliance back-end. This infrastructure ran client production and mission critical VM instances predominantly running Oracle Enterprise Linux. I also gained the Oracle Linux 6 Implementation Specialist Certified Professional.I also oversaw the Internal support systems for Inoapps which included Windows 2008/2012 Domain Controllers and the deployment of the users desktop environment. This was a varied role that also involved support and configuration of a multi-site Sywx VOIP system, IPSEC VPN tunnelling over Cisco ASA's, dealing with customers and suppliers, server hardware support and Data Centre Management.

• Senior Solaris Administrator - responsible for 300+ Solaris instances within Live, Continuity of Business, Test and development environments. Supporting Solaris 8, 9 and 10 including extensive use of LDOMS. This role includes security patching, shell scripting and debugging development issues.• Veritas Netbackup Engineer – Part of the team which administrates the Netbackup (6.5.1 & 7.1) infrastructure for the Egg environment. The team look after 600+ clients (Unix and Wintel) which require backups to LTO2/LTO3 tapes and disk staging. • SAN Engineer – responsibility for administering and supporting the SAN infrastructure within the Derby Data Centre. This consists of two core Cisco fabric switches, IBM DS4800, EMC and IBM ESS Storage devices. This infrastructure supports the Disaster Recovery, Test, Development and core desktop services for Egg.• Lead engineer for Egg COB site migration project – Responsible for building and migrating Solaris servers from the legacy Egg data centre in Dudley to virtualised environments within a new Citi Data Centre. This work involved working with various support teams within Citi to develop and create the infrastructure to support the Egg technology. This work culminated in making the new data centre the live site for Egg.com which provided increased site stability due to running on new virtualised platforms which realises significant Data Centre cost savings.• Virtualisation Project – Core team member responsible for virtualisation of Solaris hardware from standalone devices onto LDOMS on T series servers.• Audit & Compliance – As part of Citi integration, Egg systems had to undergo rigorous external audit and compliance checks. The work involved ensuring all software was up to date, supported, licensed and relevant audit controls were in place. Audits for Unix, Netbackup and SAN were all passed with no significant findings

• Solaris 10 System Administrator – Build, Support and Administration of 100+ Sun Solaris servers over three core sites. The environments made extensive use of Solaris Zones to provide virtualisation.• Microsoft Windows 2003 Administrator – Administration and support of Windows servers which included Domain Controllers, WSUS, DNS, DHCP and backups. Microsoft PPTP VPN services were also installed and administered for remote access to the network.• Data Centre Site Management – Managed the set up and installation of the application development and test environments on two sites. Hosted meetings with internal EDS Teams and IT providers to formalise the hardware requirements for both locations. Managed the hardware procurement controlling the Bill of Materials, placing the orders direct with Sun, Cisco, Dell, Infrastructure Cabling firms and software providers. These sites were delivered on time enabling application development and system testing to be completed for successful delivery of £1m+ Government project.• Environments Support – Provided general support to the whole project for all aspects of IT. This included installation and configuration of Oracle Forms, general configuration changes to Cisco switches, installing and configuring Internet connections (ADSL, SDSL & LES), PC workstation troubleshooting and rebuilds, network patching and user administration.• Organised successful office move of IT infrastructure. This included negotiations with the client for adequate server room provision and scheduling for network builds and IT equipment moves. This success enabled the project teams to come together to work as a single unit which aided successful delivery of the project.• Designed and implemented a project to introduce internet links which allowed all external sites to use shared toolsets. The resulting ability to use a VPN solution for corporate connections removed the need for dedicated network links saving over £1000 per month in support costs.
