About Ian Berg

I am an Engineer and scientist working to combine (bio)engineering principles with design oriented thinking to solve real world problems. Interests include medical devices, tissue engineering, mechanobiology, microfabrication, and bio(medical) engineering research, teaching, and medical/industrial applications. I have a PhD in Bioengineering and BS in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with 3+ years of industry experience with pharmaceuticals and medical devices. I'm currently a postdoctoral Fellow at University of Alabama at Birmingham in Cardiovascular Bioengineering using tissue engineering, stem cells, and microfabrication techniques to study heart disease and heart failure and their relationship to mechanical stimuli.
