20 years of leading and serving with Marines in diverse jobs and locations. I use wargaming, professional writing, digital media, and learner-centric instruction to help national security students and leaders link past, present and future in creative ways to ask new questions and solve old or emerging problems. I ask “what if?” and challenge others to do the same. I believe the brain is the most important, and most overlooked, muscle in our Servicemembers and look for any opportunity, standard or non-standard, to help them strengthen it. If I don’t know it, I will learn it—am self-taught in social and digital media outreach, graphic design, original content creation, wargame scenario development and wargame design, and video and audio editing/post-production. My published works cover military history and theory, contemporary security issues, and future conflict scenarios. My book “A New Conception of War: John Boyd, the U.S. Marines, and Maneuver Warfare” is a current selection for the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Professional Reading Program. Game complexity does not equate to decision making complexity.
