I am a Partner and Head of Pensions in William Fry's Employment & Benefits team and I advise employers and pension scheme trustees on all areas of pension law and have extensive experience in advising on issues related to pension scheme funding, investment and restructuring. I am a former Chairman of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland. I am currently a member of the DC Sub-Committee of the Irish Association of Pension Funds and I have spoken at a variety of forums on topical pension issues.Some of my more recent experience includes:• Acting for a US Silicon Valley based multi-national on a major project related to freezing its Irish defined benefit scheme to future accrual.• Advising the trustees of a large defined benefit scheme on a funding and contingent asset security package in the context of the sale of the sponsoring employer's life assurance business.• Advising the trustees of a US multi-national's Irish defined benefit scheme on an overseas transfer of that scheme’s assets and liabilities to a Belgian cross-border pension vehicle.• Acting for a UK based multi-national on the restructuring of its Irish defined benefit scheme arising from the sale of a portfolio of its Irish businesses.
