The establishment of the Group from an initial four core members chosen from previous expeditions, the decisions on expedition locations and project content then the delegation of all duties associated with the successive trips.

Every aspect of establishing and running a new Team to oversee Land Drainage and Flood Defence functions of the City of Derby, including writing policy documents, determination of responsibility, liaison with DEFRA and the Environment Agency, plus writing and implementation of the City's own Flood Defence policy documents and Flood policy statement. During this time we managed to secure funding for 80% of the applications made for National funding through DEFRA for flood defence schemes totalling around £12m. At the time, normal hit successes in this field ran at around 20%
