Dr. Ian S. Gregory, MInstP, joined TeraView as an industrial CASE student in 2001, and has held a full-time role since November 2004. He graduated with a PhD in Physics from the Semiconductor Physics Group, University of Cambridge, in 2005. As Senior Scientist, he initially worked in the 'Core Technology' group within TeraView, characterising semiconductors and photoconductive antenna structures for improved terahertz sources and detectors. He specialised in the development of continuous-wave terahertz systems, and demonstrated their application in both security and medical fields.Ian currently occupies the role of Project Leader in the Automotive and High Value Coatings team. He has experience in project technical leadership, and has delivered successful customer projects globally. He has worked extensively with a solar cell manufacturer to use THz technology to inspect coatings on crucibles, but recent work has focussed on Automotive multilayer paint thickness measurements are car bodies and OEM suppliers to the automotive industry. Ian’s core technical skills remain in optics, and he personally oversaw the creation of the TeraCota (Terahertz Coating Thickness Analysis) product range which now lies at the heart of TeraView’s industrial metrology products. The TeraCota 2000 instrument is deployed in automotive manufacturing plants in both Europe and the USA.
