Newmarket also has an expanded emphasis on the multi-faceted role and potential that arts and culture plays in place making and vibrancy of a future focused community.Background:Ian has enjoyed years of community building/development. These experiences have ranged from helping Winnipeg secure the 1999 Pan American Games (second largest multi - sport games besides the Summer Olympics) as Bid Coordinator, to being an Executive Director of a regional sport council, to serving as a Sport Consultant and Team Leader of the Leadership Development Centre with Ontario Sport Alliance, to facilitating program growth as Manager of Sport Services with Special Olympics Ontario. At the Town of Newmarket Ian has enjoyed roles as the Manager of Marketing, Special Events, and Culture, Assistant Director of Recreation and Culture, Director of Recreation and Culture and Commissioner of Community Services. Currently, Ian is proud to serve as Newmarket's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) as part of an amazing team united and laser focused on making Newmarket a leading municipality in Canada. Away from work, passions include spending time with family, golfing, exercising, hot yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, and travelling. Ian is married to his soulmate Robin and has three sons actively exploring their paths.
