I worked as a lab member in the Turlington lab over the summer of 2023. I worked on the optimization of chemical syntheses and recovery of organometallic monomers. I used 1H and 13C NMR, melting point analysis, IR spectroscopy, GPC, column chromatography, rotary evaporation, and other standard organic chemistry techniques. I also presented my research to the chemistry department and at the hope college summer 2023 research conference.

I worked as an intern on small independent engineering projects including a CNC fiberoptic cable polishing project. During this internship I also learned about the basics of fiberoptic connections and the polishing of fiber optic cables.
