About Ian Rutter
I have worked as a fly fishing guide since 1995 in the Smoky Mountain region of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. I started my own guide service in 2003 with my wife Charity. My first book, Great Smoky Mountains National Park Angler's Companion, was published in 2002 by Frank Amato Books. They published my second book, Tennessee Trout Waters: A Blue Ribbon Guide, in 2003. Charity and I self published Rise Rings & Rhododendron - Fly Fishing the Mountain Streams and Tailwaters of Southern Appalalachia in 2006. We're currently working on two more books that we hope to have in print by early 2009. Our guide service also conducts group trips to fly fishing destinations. We take groups of fly fishers to Montana's Madison River every September and have also taken groups to Belize on two occasions. We also do a backcountry fly fishing camp in the Smoky Mountains in the spring and fall.
