Ian Service Work Experience Details
  • Us Army
    Infantry
Us Army Aug 2011 - Present
I had multiple jobs during my time as an Infantryman. Upon completion of Basic Combat Training, I moved to Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas, where I took on the role of an assistant gunner. My responsibilities in that role was to assist the gunner with maneuvering, and manipulating the mortar system. I was promoted to gunner after two months. My responsibilities then changed to being accountable for the equipment for the mortar system, relaying orders on the gun line, and manipulating the gun to the correct direction and distance of fire. I deployed in December of 2012 to Western Zhari Afghanistan as a gunner. I was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Specialist after a year and seven months of service, at which time I was also promoted to team leader. My responsibilities as a team leader were to conduct training and classes for the four soldiers placed in my command. I was in charge of all ground movement and vehicle movement for my team. I was also responsible for conducting monthly performance counseling's for all of my soldiers, as well as administering any discipline action for soldiers of my team. I had to give daily reports to my squad leader for daily, weekly, and monthly training plans, and contingency plans for any situation that may have come to surface.
  • Us Army
    Indirect Fire Infantry
    Us Army 2011 - 2014
As an indirect fire infantryman my job was to move with an infantry platoon to provide cover fire for movements. I had to know how to navigate terrain, plot points on a map, track movement of friendly forces, and maintain the mortar system. My time as an indirect fire infantryman, I had to be able to successfully qualify with a 60 mm mortar system, 81 mm mortar system, and a 120 mm mortar system.
  • Bluewater Broadcasting
    Advertising Agent
    Bluewater Broadcasting Sep 2010 - Jan 2011
Working for Bluewater Broadcasting, I sold advertising to businesses trying to grow their customer base. I planned and prepared marketing packages for businesses that I would schedule meetings with. Some of the skills I gained working as an advertising agent were skills such as cold calling, preparing educational briefs for what I was selling, and building personal relationships with all clients. I was certified by the Radio Advertising Bureau in 2010.
