Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading financial institution to inform the development of responsible business policy and practice, operating at the frontiers of intellectual development in responsible business and education. The underlying objective of the Centre is to enable businesses to escape from the limiting, often self-destructive, consequences of intentional and unintentional irresponsibility. The Centre is envisaged as a challenge-centred, interdisciplinary research and engagement space with a mission to transform businesses along a responsibility path. The partnership between Lloyds Banking Group and Birmingham Business School allows the possibility to create a holistic, interdisciplinary body of work, informed by high quality research and extensive practice engagement. This body of work will inform, shape and energise what has been referred to as the business responsibility revolution. The Centre will seek to understand and critique irresponsible businesses, map the challenges of responsible business transformation, understand the obstacles and develop robust, authentic solutions based on high quality evidence and theoretical evaluation. The Centre will undertake to engage and communicate effectively with key stakeholders and support the development of graduates with the capacity to support responsible business transformation, contributing to the common good.
