I have always had a deep passion for computers and technology. Growing up some of my best memories are building computers with my dad. I remember flipping dip switches on hardware to get it to run on our 286 and messing around with config.sys files, so the joystick, sound card, and video card would all work for Wing Commander. Then in middle school, I learned BASIC at the Stanford computer science summer camp. And I can honestly say that that summer camp changed my life. When I entered the workforce, I leaned into the skills I first picked up at computer camp and found joy using computer code and data to solve business challenges. First it was just writing simple Excel VBA macros, but this quickly progressed to more complex macros and then to R. Once I started with R my love for the craft of programming and data science really started to come out. It was no longer enough that my code worked - I needed it to be well written and maintainable. Additionally, I was no longer satisfied with simple charts, but needed to understand my data. This led me into diving deeper into the world of machine learning and statistics.From there I saw that much of the data around me was suffering from a lack of governance, poor collection techniques, and poor long-term management. I wanted to work to solve these problems and started developing web applications focused on collecting data and improving its quality, developing production ETL pipelines, and leading efforts to deploy my company's data warehouse. Some of the technologies I have used for professional projects:Python, Airflow, AWS, GCP, BigQuery, Snowflake, R, Kafka, DBT, C#, Django, MS SQL Server, Postgres, Docker, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Nginx, and Apache.Soft Skills:Agile/scrum, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, consensus-based decision-making processes, working with external and internal partners to advance new business initiatives.
