Ian's practice at Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala focuses on representing survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as children and vulnerable adults who have been severely abused and/or neglected as a result of government or corporate negligence. Ian also represents victims of catastrophic personal injury in wrongful death, civil rights and product liability litigation.Ian has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible peer-reviewed national rating a lawyer can obtain, reflecting a preeminent legal ability and exceptional ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar.

Ian's practice at Hagens Berman focused on representing children and vulnerable adults who had been severely abused and/or neglected as a result of government or corporate negligence. Ian also represented victims of abuse and/or neglect in civil rights litigation.

Ian served as a Team Leader for the Torts Division's DSHS and WSDOT/WSP Teams. In this role, Ian supervised two teams of experienced attorneys and professional staff, and coordinated the defense of civil rights and tort litigation against DSHS, WSDOT, WSP and other state agencies. Ian also carried an active caseload of high-profile tort, civil rights and employment cases involving DSHS, WSDOT, WSP and other state agencies. Ian also routinely advised executive-level agency staff and state risk managers on a wide variety of complex legal issues, including tactical litigation decisions, the implications of legislative, judicial, political and policy decisions, and emergent situations involving risk of significant tort exposure. Before being appointed Team Leader, Ian served as a trial attorney on the DSHS Team.Ian frequently taught AGO-sponsored Continuing Legal Education courses on litigation-related topics, and was selected to serve as a rotational member of the AGO’s Leadership Team. Ian also served on numerous AGO committees, including AGO Academy, the Core Recruitment Team and the Basic Litigation Skills Committee.

Eisenhower Carlson is a full service law firm that has served the Puget Sound community since 1914. Ian's practice at Eisenhower Carlson focused on civil litigation, where he represented businesses and individuals in all stages of commercial, real estate and employment litigation.

Ian advised and represented DSHS in litigation involving the administration of state public assistance programs. Ian also represented DSHS in tort litigation, and in complex litigation concerning the operation and funding of the state mental health and foster care systems.
