My work at Orb has been centered around consumer embedded multimedia devices ranging from open/generic arm based linux devices to closed, proprietary RTOS embedded multimedia systems to several android variations.This work has been at many levels, including- board bringup- porting our player stack to these devices- driver interfaces- implementing required utilities (pthread) and other "cross platform" utilities- Real Time audio and video transcoding including- H264 video encoding/decoding with libx264 on embedded linux and win32 systems and multi source transcoding (for mp3, aac, mpeg2, vc1 etc)- transport protocol layers solutions including MPEG-TS generation and - Real-Time device delivery via RTSP/RTP, HTTP to hardware devices

I previously worked as an Embedded Software Engineer for Silicon and Software Systems (www.s3group.com). The primary focus of my work is on set top box middleware integration.My work covers all aspects of embedded systems including designing and writing device drivers, middleware integration, testing and automation.My work generally involves using C and C++ on operating systems such as linux and WinCE, along with middleware software from OpenTV and Microsoft (Mediaroom)

- Designed and wrote the company’s real-time secure on-line booking system and management tool in C# and ASP.Net utilizing a mySql server.- Conceived and directed a project to modernize the use of technology, both within the company and in it’s customer facing initiatives. This included creating mobile web content and instant answers to customer queries via SMS reply. - Managed 3 data-driven company and affiliate websites on Linux servers, along with Windows Server 2003 deployments on the office network- Designed and implemented an I.T resource re-organization to reduce costs and improve the quality of services. This involved migrating on-line resources and websites to localized servers to allow for easier management, updating, and cost control. A company intra-net site was also created to better allow for the dissemination of company information.- Created I.T policies and coordinated I.T training for employees to more effectively manage the company’s resources and equipment.
