As the design lead and product owner for the newly-formed chatbot team, I set, communicated, and helped execute the vision for an innovative product combining conversational UI with an interactive GUI. I closely collaborated with other product owners to help build requirements and use cases that spanned business silos, and built good working relationships across product teams. I translated those use cases into concepts, user flows, wireframes, and ultimately into prototypes and final polished designs.

The sole designer feeding 7 scrum teams, I was responsible for the overall design of an entire institutional trading and operations platform. Taking over a project with a badly fragmented and siloed experience, I focused on creating and enforcing a shared style guide, establishing a design process, and building a common vision with the users and the developers. While I was building trust by running design-thinking sessions and user-testing with the traders and operations staff, I was delivering all phases of design documentation to the scrum teams and creative QA testing their output before it went into production. In addition, I established a Design Backlog to track and prioritize the work across many scrum teams.

My focus was creating visualizations and experiences for huge amounts of complex social media and consumer insight data. I designed an innovative, AI-powered alerting system to let users know when and how the conversation around their brand was changing, even in ways they weren’t aware to ask for. I was also the Design Lead for the “Innovation Squad”, building the next generation of consumer insight tools, including image recognition/search, and trend identification.I also assisted the Product Team building comprehensive personas and user journeys, mapping out all the ways customers interacted (and didn’t interact) with the system.In addition, I served as the “Scrum Master” for the design team, trying to improve the design process and keeping the team focused on delivering value.

I led the teams designing some of the most complex and innovative option-trading and research tools at Fidelity. After that, I redesigned the primary retail trading and position-management experiences. As the design lead for multiple teams and projects, both for general retail customers and Active Traders, I took many projects through every stage of design, led user-testing efforts, and built strong relationships with product owners and technical teams. I led design teams through all design phases, from concepts and requirement gathering to CQA and follow-up user testing. I also regularly taught trading and brokerage concepts to fellow designers through informal "Lunch and Learn" meetings, and mentored colleagues to help build their financial subject matter expertise.

My role as a systems analyst was to know how every element of the project I was working on fit, bringing together designs, business requirements, and technical specs. My specialty was breaking down complex financial business requirements into usable stories my developers could understand and build in an Agile way. I also built great relationships with the developers and the business analysts on my teams.I designed and built the first comprehensive system to track real-time gains and losses for Fidelity’s retail customers, and I designed the first system at Fidelity that brought charting, balances, alerts, and trading into a single visual tool.
