The Irish United States Alumni Association aims to be a substantial, active, useful and creative association of members who are committed to making significant and meaningful contributions to Ireland, the lives of its people and to one another.By means of establishing a vibrant sustainable, influential and giving community of alumni, the mission of the IUSA is to mobilise and utilise the power, talents, experience and leadership of its alumni in order to make a beneficial contribution to Ireland as a whole. It seeks, in particular, to do this by:- Fostering a sense of belonging to the Association;- Communicating effectively with its alumni;- Securing the participation of its alumni;- Developing a program of alumni focused activities and events;- Providing opportunities to contribute to Irish society;- Providing a link between alumni and the U.S. Embassy;- Promoting relationships between Ireland and the Unites States.

Article 30 of the Constitution states that the Attorney General “…shall be the adviser of the Government in matters of law and legal opinion, and shall exercise and perform all such powers, functions and duties as are conferred or imposed on him by this Constitution or by law.” In essence, the role involves provision of advice to all Government Ministers and Government Departments as and when needed. It must be stressed however, that this advice is provided independently, and provided individually to Ministers as well as to Government collectively. In practice, the function of providing legal advice can be divided into three main area: 1) providing legal advice on on-going matters and policy development within departments, 2) representing Ministers, Ireland, and the State in any proceedings issued, and 3) drafting of new legislation for introduction into the Houses of the Oireachtas by Government.

Belgrove Newsagents is a local newsagents in the Dublin suburb, Clontarf. Due to its size, there is only ever one employee on the premises at any given time. This places a large amount of responsibility on my shoulders whenever I work. It is my duty to ensure: - A clean and maintained premises. - A well - stocked premises. - A duty of care to all customers on the premises. - Polite interaction with all customers on the premises. - Proper and honest financial transactions. - A definite-balanced till at the close of business hours.

Alfie Byrne Branch - Dublin Bay North

Young Fine Gael is a political organisation for people between the ages of 16 and 35. It is directly linked to the Fine Gael Party, the largest political party in Ireland - and the current government party. The Alfie Byrne Branch is located in the Dublin Bay North constituency. I am the Organiser/Events Organiser of the branch for the current committee. The duties of which include: - Promotion of local canvasses for local TDs and councillors. - Recruitment of membership to the branch. - Organising events, such as fundraisers, social evenings, debates etc for general membership of the branch; organisation and members of the public. - Posting regular updates on the Alfie Byrne YFG Twitter Profile.

The U.C.D Law Society is the largest student law society in the world - and the 3rd largest student society in University College Dublin, with an average membership of between 3,500 - 4,000 members. As Auditor of the 104th Session of the U.C.D Law Society, I was primarily responsible for the daily running of the society - its day-to-day activities and ordinary/extraordinary business. One of my most important roles was to work closely with the 20+ membered Committee of the U.C.D Law Society - supporting and managing them with their tasks/roles, which I specifically direct them to do. Other aspects included: - Securing sponsorship of the Society from global legal firms. - Planning House Debates, which comprised of contacting guest speakers and student speakers. - Contacting/Hosting/Interviewing guest speakers who received Honorary Life Membership of U.C.D Law Society. (Eg: Sir Christopher Lee; Judge Judith Sheindlin; Dustin Lance Black; Eavan Boland) - Preparing several Society Reports/Society Grants/Event Speeches - Society Administration.As Auditor, I played a key role around decision-making for the society. Every decision that I made for the year promoted the interests of the committee, the students and staff of U.C.D, the sponsors and the Society as a whole.As Auditor, I chaired all of our events, which included: - Dustin Lance Black (Oscar-winning producer & activist) Honorary Life Membership. - Eavan Boland (Literary giant) Honorary Life Membership. - Dessie O'Malley (Founder of the Progressive Democrats) Honorary Life Membership. - This House is Ready for Hillary 2016 (Hillary Clinton Debate) - This House Would Vote No (Marriage Equality Debate) - This House Supports Ireland's Blasphemy Laws (In light of Charlie Hebdo Massacre) - This House Would Professionalise the GAA - This House Would Fight for Free Fees - Cecil Lavery Moot Court Competition. - Vivian Lavan Moot Court Competition. - Thomas A. As Honorary Life Membership Convenor of the 103rd Session, it was my duty to: - Research individuals (political; inspirational; famous) who had contributed in a major way to society in a certain field. - Research and write detailed invitations that would award Lifetime Membership of UCD Law Society to the individual in question. - Locate and establish contact with talent agents/publicists/legal representatives of the individual in question. - Inform the Auditor of any acceptances/contact. The Roancarrig Seafood Restaurant is located on the Beara Peninsula, Co. Cork. I started working there as a waiter in May - with a view to remain until the end of the summer. After three weeks, I was promoted to Food & Beverage Manager/Supervisor. My duties included: - Upkeep and maintenance of the restaurant and bar. - Polite interaction with customers. - Ensuring the correct orders were taken by all staff. - Sole control over the financial transactions each night (Weds-Sun; June-Sept). - Stocking of all minerals/alcohol of the premises. - Requesting feedback from customers. - Reporting to management about customer feedback & staff operations. - Location set-up for functions, such as christenings/funerals/weddings etc.

The U.C.D Arts Society is the 5th largest student society in University College Dublin. Even though I am a Business and Law student, I wanted to expand my interests and challenge myself with a new role in my second year in University College Dublin. The Arts Faculty caters for 5,000+ students and, therefore, it was essential that all activities and events appealed to a faculty where many students often feel isolated. My duties included: - Working closely with the Auditor to oversee the day-to-day running of the society. - To assist the Auditor with managing the Committee of the Arts Society. - To assist committee members with the organisation of events, such as Arts Day. I left in January 2014 to pursue election as Auditor of the UCD Law Society.

My duties included: - General upkeep and maintenance of the restaurant. - Ensuring the correct orders were handed in to the kitchen. - Interacting with customers. - Set-up of the restaurant each evening (Thurs-Sun).
