I am a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering at Michigan State University. My research is in high performance simulations of magnetic reconnection using the magneto hydrodynamical code Athena(++ and PK). I am largely interested in plasma physics, computational modeling, and science related to fusion energy. As an undergraduate at Illinois State with a triple major in mathematics, physics, and computational physics, I maintained a 4.0 despite the roadblocks the pandemic produced. Outside the classroom, I was a physics lab instructor (algebra and calculus based mechanics), a college math tutor (calculus 3), a Resident Assistant to the mathematics themed community, and participated in a number of computational physics research groups/projects (outlined below).I have experience leading teams, as evident by years of musical leadership in high school and college marching bands, holding leadership positions in student organizations like president and secretary of the Hewett-Manchester Student Association and secretary of ISU's physics club, and even in my experience as a Teaching Assistant. I am also capable of working in a team, as evident by my experiences as a Resident Assistant of the Mathematics Themed floor at ISU. These positions have required a number of skills ranging from organizational leadership, critical thinking, public speaking, problem solving, and even crisis response.I have extensive coding skills, with experience in C++, Java, Python, Mathematica, and Fortran95 which have been used in the following research projects: - MagnetoHydrodynamics - simulated magnetic reconnection in pulsed-power plasmas (related to experiments done on Sandia's Z-Machine) - Statistical Modelling - created functions for precise diffusion coefficients for White Dwarf plasma diffusion (published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society [MNRAS 505 (1), 45-49], presented at ISU's physics URS and the American Physical Society's April Meeting 2021) - Cluster Algorithm and 3D Visualization - wrote, modified, and visualized a cluster algorithm to identify crystal diffusion, nucleation, and adsorption in Python (published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters 919, no. 1 (2021):L12)
