I was a lead engineer at Kapost tasked with building, designing, maintaining and shepherding many parts of the tech stack. In my eight-year career at Kapost, I've went from hacking on the company website to designing and implementing new systems that steered our technical direction for years to come. I worked on virtually every codebase at Kapost from the Rails monolith, to an Elasticsearch-powered search service, to frontend Redux apps that consumed GraphQL APIs.Some of the technologies, competencies and skills I used at Kapost were Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React, Redux, Flux, Node, ES6, Backbone, jQuery, Mongodb, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, API Design, Documentation, Refactoring, Technical Interviewing, Service Oriented Architecture, Test-driven Development, Object-oriented Programming, AWS, CI, Heroku, Git, Wordpress, PHP, SASS, SCS and CSS.The startup ride was fun! Would do it again, but probably for myself the next time around.

Went from a fresh-out-of-school junior developer to senior engineer. Saw Kapost go from almost no revenue or customers to a market leader in the MarTech space with $10M ARR. Built frontend JS modules, new Rails and React apps, wrote analytics APIs and new publishing integrations. Worked alongside and learned from some extremely talented people from all areas of the business.

Learned the startup ropes doing a bit of everything including front and back end work, lead qualification, sitting in on developer and business meetings and helping overhaul the Gnip website and blog. Broke some things and made some things.

Taught numerous courses to campers ages 12-18 in computer programming including C++, the Unreal Development Kit, Game Design. Beat campers routinely at Dota.
