I am responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure SIG membership growth. The role also manages all the SIG Executive and Administrative OfficersKey responsibilities include developing growth strategies, developing and implementing initiatives to meet strategic objectives.As part of the role I am also the executive officer of the Australian Cattle Veterinarians (one of the category 1 special interest groups).

I am employed on a casual basis as one of the fitness instructors to lead sessions for clients who want to increase their strength and fitness.

I was appointed to the Chair role of this committee, which began on June 1st, 2022 for 12 months.We then formed an executive group of three to ensure strong leadership of which I am still a member.Our committee consists of government, research and peak body representatives who have a leading communication role during biosecurity outbreaks which threaten our agricultural and environmental industries.Our committee reports to and advises the National Biosecurity Committee.

Head of the communications team at Animal Health Australia where I delivered and provided oversight of the communication activities for the organisation which included website development and management, enewsletter creation and publication, blogs, video content, social media, publications and more. We strived to ensure the organisation was seen and heard with impact!I led a small team who provided oversight of several national biosecurity and animal health programs, and also provided strategic oversight of national events including the Australian Biosecurity Symposium.

Honorary position with the Faculty of Science and Technology, supporting the leadership and mentoring of science communication within the University. I have been providing in kind lecturing to the University since 2019.

In July 2017, the Invasive Animals CRC rebranded into a new national collaborative research entity. I stayed on as the Communications Manager and successfully led the organisation’s brand transition process. I established our organisations new corporate identity, including the development and implementation of our communications plan and managed the development of our new corporate website, social media channels and e-newsletters.I managed and implemented the Centre's communication strategy and and delivered our tactical communication outputs and digital assets. I led a small team and am a member of key national biosecurity and invasive species related communication working groups, ensuring a strong collaborative communications approach.

I managed the corporate communications strategy for the Invasive Animals CRC. A major aspect of my role included coordinating the communication outputs for our national pest animal campaigns relating to rabbits, carp and wild dog control. I also manage all our organisations digital assets including our websites, social media accounts and digital pest animal toolkits and apps. Major aspects of this role include:• The coordination and rollout of a national communication strategy relating to rabbit biocontrol• The oversight and rollout of a national communications strategy relating to wild dog control, which has included the development of a social licence video campaign.• The development of a national rabbit control video series which was produced for online purposes and sent to more than 600 landholders around Australia on USB involved in rabbit control.• The 2014/15 and 2015/16 Annual Reports and Research Portfolio Summaries• Media management and liaison for the organisations media releases.• Production and distribution of our organisations e-newsletters • Management of our organisations websites and social media accounts.• Production of the quarterly communication updates for our board and stakeholders.

This short term contract role was responsible for coordinating and managing a wide variety of communications tasks to support the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre (DCRC) research centres who are funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council. The DCRCs work closely together with the five Dementia Training Study Centres (DTSC’s) across Australia to up skill the current and future dementia care workforce. Major aspects of the role include:1. Working in consultation with the three Directors of the DCRCs to implement an internal communications plan; for the DCRC, fostering relationships with staff across the three nodes, and facilitating internal communications between Centre staff and associates,2. Evaluate and continually improve internal and external communications outcomes;3. Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues throughout the DCRC & DTSC. organisation, including the planning and delivery of internal stakeholder engagement activities4. Contribute to the development of a stakeholder database, including the compilation of key communications contacts within selected organisations and government departments;5. Identify opportunities to promote DCRC and DTSC to other organisations to encourage organisation engagement and corporate relations;6. Manage the editing and production of a range of publications including newsletters and promotional material, as well as managing relationships with graphic designers, printers and other professionals in the development of communication channels;7. Develop and proof content for the DCRC website as a central component of the communications program, along with maintaining the website for currency and accuracy and implementing strategies to drive traffic to the website.8. Develop and project manage the production of a microsite to showcase the dementia knowledge translation outcomes.9. Assist with media planning, organising and the media coverage of the Annual Dementia Research Forum

I implemented the multi faceted research communications strategy for Alzheimer's Australia. A major aspect of my role also includes promoting the Alzheimer's Australia Dementia Research Foundation to support our multi million dollar dementia research grants program.Projects which I successfully completed and managed as part of this role and within budget included:1) The refresh of the Alzheimer's Australia Dementia Research Foundation brand.2) The development and design of the Alzheimer's Australia dementia research website - www.dementiaresearchfoundation.org.au Other major aspects of the communication strategy and my role include:1) Editor of the government funded 'Dementia News' e-newsletter - of which I continually upload dementia research blogs to the research website. This blog recieves over 2000 clicks per week.2) Creator, host and producer of the Dementia News Podcasts - which are available for download via iTunes and our website. The podcast receives over 300 downloads per episode.3) Manage the production of promotional and fundraising flyers, brochures and posters.4) Create posts for large and diverse social media audiences (Facebook, Twitter).5) Organise large scale public events on interesting dementia research topics.6) Assist with national campaigns - particularly in relation to research advocacy.7) Assist with writing position papers, speeches, scripts and media releases when required.8) Develop the communication plans for each financial year and source and create budgets for board approval, along with providing quarterly updates to the board.9) Managing the production and delivery of the Annual Report to key stakeholders and donors.10) Attending dementia research events and promoting the research work of Alzheimer's Australia.11) Creator and project manager of a monthly video series for YouTube 'The Brains Behind Dementia Research'.12) Creator of multiple Google Adword campaigns to make our website more visible via Google.

I was specifically employed by Professor Sharon Friel to undertake this role. One of the major aspects of this role included a national science symposium. I was asked to take on this role because the research group was in the final stages of its grant completion and wanted to showcase the $3 million worth of research project outcomes they had achieved. To do this I developed a communications strategy and work plan during this short contracted project.Major aspects of my role included:1) Lead organiser of a national science symposium, which included obtaining sponsorship, media attention and organising keynote speakers. This symposium also included an ABC Radio National broadcasted panel discussion with drawcards such as Dr John Hewson (ex-federal opposition leader) and John Connor (CEO Climate Change Institute) - who both participated based on requests I drafted and sent through.2) Updated and edited the cluster website (WordPress CMS).3) General administrative duties such as replying to emails and making sure all researchers send in their grant milestone reports to our funding bodies.4) Drafting communication materials for our stakeholders based on the five major research topics.

I was employed on a short term contract to undertake some professional lab work with the CSIRO Rabbit Biocontrol Group.The major aspects of this role included:1) Analysing hundreds of archival rabbit sera samples for specific viruses using Laboratory assays.2) Inputting data into excel spreadsheets for analysis via staff.3) Training students and other staff members about Lab protocols and techniques.

This was a casual position as I was undertaking my PhD. I did multiple shifts per week consisting of leading school aged tour groups (anywhere from 10-200 people) around the CSIRO Discovery Centre. Major roles included: 1) Presenting to school aged children (primary and secondary) about CSIRO research.2) Liaising and working with parents, teachers and general public to make sure the children stay engaged and have an enjoyable time.3) Running short practical based experiments on DNA, Forensics, Chemistry and Colour (to name a few).4) Leading a small team of staff depending on the size of the school groups to make sure each group is able to get through the whole exhibit in under 2 hours.

I started my PhD project in mid 2008. I was working with a small CSIRO based lab group on the development of oral immuncontraceptive (fertility control) agents for the management of wildlife. I was awarded a government scholarship to undertake this project and was funded by the Invasive Animals CRC to run the animal trials.Major aspects of this four year project included:1) The production of a PhD thesis in animal reproductive immunology (awarded Feb 2013).2) Presentation of project data to stakeholders, academics and the general public.3) Organising animal trials, lab work, and collecting biological samples.4) Analysing data from animal trials and lab work. This included running assays and undertaking histology and microscopy.5) Writing scientific reports and updates for stakeholders and academics.
