Interaction Design Centre, Ul

Worked as a researcher on an E.I. funded research project in the Interaction Design Centre involving the creation of automated music composition software for video editors. PhD was completed in parallel with this research, in the field of emotive musicology, an intersection of the psychology of emotions, cognitive musicology and software development, and resulted in the creation of an interactive music modification system suitable for non-musicians that was capable of capturing aspects of human emotion as expressed through the music.Key areas: Software development in X-Code, Objective C, ANSI C. Prototyping in Flash. Human Computer Interaction evaluation, User studies, Writing up PhD thesis.

Performed the groundwork for the subsequent Innovation Partnership by completing a Feasibility Study, and fostering connections with the industry side of the project, such as video editors, commercial partners and so on. Prepared presentation for E.I. panel prior to go-ahead for full project.
