SGTi was trying to be a custom clothing company. Our goal was to offer brands and retailers knitwear manufacturing-as-a-service. By allowing our customers to digitally prototype new designs before ordering only the products they needed, they could have seen significant reductions in time to market, product overhead, and waste throughout their value chain.Together with my co-founder, we:- Began development on a novel new approach to knitwear design, simulation, and manufacturing to better leverage modern technology found in other areas of engineering and computer science- Successfully pitched and graduated from Batch 3 (Spring 2018) of the Fashion for Good x Plug and Play accelerator in Amsterdam- Discussed current and upcoming technical, business, and industry challenges while at the accelerator with companies such as Adidas, Zalando, C&A, Kering/Gucci, and PVH- Conducted over two thousand interviews with end consumers, brands, experts, and investors to design a new commercially viable knitting machine with 3D design and simulation software- Extensively researched the history of knitwear manufacturingI was primarily responsible for:- Designing, building, and testing the initial proof-of-concept knitting machine with samples- Writing the design and functional specification documents used to file a 34 claim US Provisional Patent based on the initial proof-of-concept knitting machine- Designing, prototyping, and testing knitting bed designs using Fusion 360 and Nylon/PLA 3D printers- Writing the design and functional specifications for the final prototype’s hardware and electronics- Knitwear research and knitting- Dissolving SGTiIn the end, we determined that investors wanted to see a machine that could produce near finished goods or large samples. This was beyond the resources available to us at that time and the decision to move on was made.

I visited various inner-city elementary schools in Surrey, BC to help give presentation about the STEM fields to at risk youth. Presentation covered Chemistry, Robotics, and Electronics. This was part of a multi-year partnership between Surrey Schools, SFU, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, and The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to help encourage STEM learning in youth.

I was an intern on the Body Electronics team working with the Body Controllers for the Tesla Model S. My primary task was to start work on the load boxes for the next generation of Tesla Body Controllers. I spend a majority of the summer finding and characterizing all of the loads on the Model S that interacted with the Body Controllers. The resulting information and parts were to be used in the testing and development of a new body controls architecture, and related engineering projects.
