Many of my duties changed with my employer's restructuring. While my title changed at the end of 2020, my duties post restructuring really began in November of 2021. I also engaged in additional research, locating and processing more information about each collection as I worked on them.I addition to my main duties, I also assisted patrons in their research, paging materials, off-site storage preparation and retrieval, database maintenance, and exhibit research & execution.
Barista/Bookseller
I worked primarily as a Barista while I was at Borders, where my duties included preparing drinks for customers, keeping the cafe clean, and organizing the magazine and newstand section of the store. I also worked on occasion as a bookseller, working the register, shelving books, keeping the store's inventory organized and alphabetized, and recommending books for customers to purchase. On occasion, I would volunteer when the store needed people working an overnight cleaning shift, as we went through the store and cleaned, shelved and organized it as we prepared for large sales, like the holidays or the sale of the last Harry Potter book. With that mentioned, I am also experienced in dealing with incredibly large crowds of sometimes angry or disgruntled customers.
