In this internship, we basically learn about SIEM (security information and event management). A SIEM detects security breaches and provides the necessary information so you can give an appropriate response to prevent malicious activities. The SIEM store all the log files data that is generated across your network. When a breach occurs, you have the information needed for forensic response.In SIEM we learned about the ELK (elastic stack) tool which consists of open-source tools along with an elastic search engine, Logstash, and Kibana from Elastic designed to help users take an event from different sources in any format and search, analyze and visualize events in real-time. SNORT and Suricata. SNORT can be used to monitor the traffic that goes in and out of a network. It will monitor traffic in real-time and issue alerts to users when it discovers potentially malicious packets or threats on Internet Protocol (IP) networks.Suricata is an open-source network threat detection engine that provides capabilities including intrusion detection (IDS), and intrusion prevention (IPS) network security monitoring. It does extremely well with deep packet inspection and pattern matching which makes it incredibly useful for threat and attack detection.In this internship we cover the following topics:1. SIEM2.
