First introduced to AutoCAD 2.1 in 1986, via my father's construction business, I soon developed a fascination for CAD. This quickly transitioned into assisting my High School Drafting Instructor installing/problem-solving AutoCAD 9&10. Prior to graduation I began an Autodesk Pilot at the local Tech College focusing on AutoCAD for 9 months. During the pilot I excelled in AutoCAD R10 & R11 leading the class project modeling a home in 3D; complete with fly through animations. As I began college, simultaneously entering into the job market, I found myself indirectly claiming the "go to" CAD guy. Next page turned working for a prominent Machine Shop where I realized my career focus changed to mechanical design. The new found passion for mechanical design took off with a medical device manufacturer. Several of these design projects acquired US Patents. After attending Inventor R4 Demo in the spring of 2000 I was hooked on 3D CAD. From there I lead my employer from implementation to auto-configuration pilot which reduced a once 8 hour 2D task to less than 6 min in 3D. My career outlook began to develop the position of CAD Administrator which inspired the start of my own Consulting Design Firm whilst working full-time. Since early 2004 I began contributing to the various Autodesk discussions groups and the local User Groups. Quickly I found sharing my passion of 3D CAD strengthened my career focus. My current goal is to continue sharing my knowledge in hopes to excel teaching skills and pursue outreach for future mechanical designers utilizing 3D printing.
