During my Master, I worked in the computational design of low power wind turbines, performing fluid dynamics simulations and inverse designs. Then, during my PhD in Computational Mechanics, I shifted to the computational design of materials, where I implemented an optimization methodology to design Metamaterials and Metadevices for heat flux manipulations, achieving devices for cloaking and heat flux concentration. Then, this methodology was extended to design also Mechanical Metamaterials. During my postdoc, with the aim of applying this material design methodology to real engineering problems, I continued working on the design of highly insulation cement-based materials for building energy saving. These materials were combined with phase change materials with large thermal energy storage and were computationally designed according to the desired properties to minimize energy consumption of the buildings. Currently, I am working in the computational design/modeling of manufacturing processes of Li-ion batteries, specifically by using multiscale approaches and homogenization techniques applied to the modeling of electrodes.
