Director - Office of Information TechnologyManage the Office of Information Technology (OIT), supporting all FWC’s program areas, by providing and maintaining a technology environment that is reliable, secure, cost-effective and responsive. With a annual budget of roughly $6.8M and staff of 45, OIT supports the technology needs of this diverse agency with over 3000 personnel distributed throughout the State, and a annual budget of $378M. The program areas that are part of six divisions, and 9 offices, conduct Commission operations across five regions and roughly 80 facilities throughout the State. A highly mobile workforce of field researchers and law enforcement personnel add to the breadth, diversity and complexity of operations supported by OIT. Responsible for the management of data center operations, which include over 100 WINTEL Servers, a Cisco Campus-wide Local Area Network, and Wide Area Network directly supporting over 1500 staff and over 40 Senate offices state-wide. The data center hosts technology infrastructure for the House, Senate, OLS, Ethics, Public Counsel, OPPAGA, EDR, and other Joint departments. The Facilities, Messaging, Networking, and System Administration teams make up the data center staff.

Design, build, and manage multi-agency local and wide-area networks for a five-county judicial circuit, supporting over 400 nodes and 370 users; perform assessments for circuit-wide office automation; determine the need for acquiring technology products and services, define product specifications and features, evaluate and select brands, vendors and suppliers, install all products; design, develop and maintain software applications for personnel management, general ledgers, inventory and case management systems; coordinate user training; provide technical support for applications developed in-house; serve as agency liaison to other agencies' IT departments.Manage the information technology team. Develop six annual county and state-level plans and budgets for information technology approved by the Board of County Commissioners and the State of Florida Legislature.Drafted RFP for a joint study between the State Attorney's and Public Defender's offices, selected vendor, and served as contract manager during the project. Obtained federal grants for an interagency criminal justice information system.

Developed HR, Financial and Case Management applications for internal use, later shared with other agencies. These accomplishments were recognized by the State of Florida legislature, and by Florida TaxWatch.

The CIO Council was established by the Florida Legislature to help foster collaboration among Agency Chief Information Officers, establishing partnerships to improve the use of IT resources, and enhance the delivery of government services. I represented the FPAA in all matters related to the Council. In 2004-2006, in collaboration with the established Article V Technology Board, I served as the State Attorney representative in several workgroups, composed of appointed technical experts from 15 state agencies, courts, public defenders, state attorneys, and professional associations within Florida. This board was charged with recommending integration models to the Legislature that will allow the electronic exchange of information between Court System Entities, defined as the courts, state attorneys, public defenders, and clerks, to include all 20 judicial circuits and 67 counties in Florida.The Board delivered its final report on January 10, 2006 to the Governor, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
