I am a high school teacher with more than 12 years of international teaching experience, including early years and adult education. I have taught primary ESL, middle school history, and high school Advanced Placement (AP) preparation, Geography and Government courses. I was tasked and successfully developed new curricula for most secondary subjects I teach. Most recently, I designed and implemented an innovative comprehensive K-12 Physical Education Program for Shanghai Livingston American School. I coached high school varsity girls basketball and other sports teams, and organized signature athletic meets and events. It is my belief that meaningful education happens in an environment where students are well-supported to design their own experience and interaction with the content. My passion for education, physical fitness and team building inspired me to co-found FitFamShanghai, a grassroots free fitness community that runs 60 free workouts per week across 25 locations in the city; all powered by volunteers. FitFam is growing into a global movement, with chapters currently being established in Hong Kong, Malaysia, France, and new branches opening in Canada soon.

Shanghai, China
I currently serve on the Department of Education, Programming and Safety committee. FitFam began as a group of friends working out together and developed into a citywide grassroots organization that runs 60 workouts across 25 locations in Shanghai every week. I have three years experience running HIIT-based bodyweight group workouts averaging 20-30 people, and on event occasions have led critical mass workouts of 100+ participants. I mentor new Leader recruits, volunteers who are willing to give their time to plan, support and run workouts. In accordance with FitFam's core values (consistent, active, safe), the Education Program develops content and runs workshops on fitness education, workout design, leadership skills, and safety.
