Ilse works as advisor Public Affairs for SURF. She also has many years of experience in international relations within the NREN community and digital infrastructures in general. In 2002 Ilse started working at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. She was responsible for innovation strategies, in particular by stimulating public-private partnerships (FES-projects). She coordinated different processes aimed at innovation of and by ICT. Furthermore, she was a national delegate to the European Commission (FP5, FP6, FP7), responsible for positioning the Netherlands in international and EU-research policy.While studying Greek and Latin Languages and Cultures Ilse taught Latin at Stedelijk Gymnasium in Leiden. After receiving her masters degree she travelled for nine months around the Mediterranean to see what she learned about during her studies.
