General civil litigation with particular specialties in corporate/commercial, media/entertainment, music industry, defamation, intellectual property, and professional negligence. I also deal with litigation issues related to insurance coverage, injunctions, employment/HR matters, and act for plaintiffs in medical malpractice and other professional negligence cases. I regularly argue cases before all levels of court and various tribunals, and have acted as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada on five occasions. I have a great deal of experience and interest in new media and internet legal issues, as well as protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights. I regularly act for major media outlets with respect to defamation, publication bans, search warrants, and access to court documents. I also act for TV and film producers and directors with respect to E&O coverage, production/licence agreements and various legal issues related to TV/film production and distribution. Prior to attending (and during) law school, I worked as a journalist at CBC and the Toronto Star.
