Summer Placement Student
Worked as a project engineer across a number of green hydrogen projects as well as industrial fuel switching over a 3 month placement. Developed green hydrogen operational models relating batteries and hydrogen storage to renewables, presented in UKRI interviews for hydrogen allocation round 1 strand 2, produced a report covering the wider, cross-industry decarbonisation potential of the HyNet fuel switching projects alongside numerous other project development and scoping tasks.
Athletics & Cross Country Club President
Elected to lead Birmingham University Athletics Club (BUAC) during my 3rd year, and through a lot of hard work and thanks to unwavering dedication from an amazing committee and team of coaches, the club had a very good year. 🏅Most BUCS points ever as a club (+42 medals)🏆Won UBSport Club of the Year 🇺🇸Hosted and competed against 4 Ivy League Teams in the biggest exchange we have ever had🏃🏼♀️Won our cross country leagues and all inter-varsity matches🏁 Successfully hosted numerous open meetings and matches, fundraising lots for the club☺️ Maintained our incredible atmosphere in the growing club and had some great times doing our sport!! Aș president it was my job to oversee all the events, committees and manage the budget, communications and organisation with UBSport. I have a huge amount of pride to have been at the head of BUAC for such a brilliant year and am confident the achievements will continue with next years committee. While it wasn’t easy, I learnt an immense amount myself and leadership over the year. Balancing my time to keep up with training, my degree and running the club was always going to be a massive challenge but I am so thankful I took it on. I enjoyed every second of getting to know all 250+ members and becoming a part of the clubs’ long legacy.
Summer Placement Student
Undertook a shorter term placement back at Progressive focusing on developing a model for a new green hydrogen production plant proposed as part of the wider HyNet project. Utilising data from energy industry partners, built a resilient model to assess the impact of different sizing, energy supply and gas demand parameters on the potential operation of the plant. This was used further to create a financial model required in the project bid to the Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.
Summer Placement Student
Returned for an eight week summer placement to produce a pre-feasibility study on the Peak Cluster HyNet expansion. While developing my ProMax skills, visiting industrial sites and attending meetings with external consultants, I authored a pipeline routing and design study and presented this to colleagues across the company. Subsequently my report has been used to further develop the project with Progressive’s industrial partners.
Summer Placement Student
Summer placement lasting seven weeks developing my knowledge of decarbonisation by undertaking my own project within the wider HyNet project. This was to develop an integrated a high level project schedule for every work package from storage and transportation of CO2 to each capture plant and the hydrogen production plant. I also produced a close out report for phase one of the industrial decarbonisation challenge, attended several strategic planning meetings and submitted the hynet project profile for the hydrogen valleys platform.
