Project: 660 MW Coal-fired power plant Project (Thar Lignite Coal), Bin Qasim KarachiI was hired to ensure the proper functioning and availability of all instrumentation, control equipment, and machinery of coal-fired power plant. Moreover, executing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities. From primary details to the biggest decision-making, I am implementing various tests to ensure the proper functioning of power plant equipment, tools, systems, and machinery, in addition to implementing best-fit actions for the resolution of issues. Recruited to direct a cross-functional team, including preparing schedules, allocating tasks, and evaluating and improving performance. Reviewing project drawings and engineering documents for electrical and instrumentation systems, process systems, FAT/SAT procedures, ITP, and commissioning procedures. Furthermore, maintaining compliance of EPC documents/submittals/deliverables with required standards.On a more practical level, I involve in finalizing the design of electrical & instrumentation systems. The favorite part of my role was guaranteeing the compliance of EPC works with defined standards while heading EPC contractors, including tracking & optimizing performance. Performed key tasks, including conducting the system-by-system walk down at the plant; prepared punch list, site instructions & hazard reports for non-compliance; executed remedial works𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒆𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑨𝒓𝒆:➙ Derived automation in power plant operations, thereby enhancing efficiencies & saving time/cost➙ Completed project on time and as per contractual obligations by coordinating with key stakeholders➙ Determined and fixed control system issues pertaining to Emerson DCS control system, GE Mark-VIe DEH system, ABB SCADA system for solar PV Plant.

Project: Rabigh 3 Desalination Plant: Rabigh-Jeddah / Makkah Water Transmission System: 1,300,000 m3/d (Client: SWCC)During this tenure, I functioned as a lead engineer, where I was responsible for the review of design and engineering documents for instrumentation systems; low current systems; process drawings and deliverables; interfaces and electrical systems; FAT/SAT procedures; ITP; QA/QC procedures. Again, in this project, I have ensured and maintained the compliance of EPC documents/submittals/deliverables with defined standards. I was recruited to lead the instrumentation, control system erection, testing, commissioning, start-up, and routine maintenance of the pipeline control system (SCADA/ DCS), potable water pumps, booster pumps, and valves.By displaying strong leadership abilities, I spearhead the pipeline I&C activities; testing/commissioning of cathodic protection system; fire detection, alarm, and protection system; and BOP systems per ITP/AFC drawings/commissioning procedure, QC documents, HSE guidelines, and engineering practices.𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒆𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑨𝒓𝒆:➙ Implemented required changes in the advancement of drawings, submittals, and deliverables used for construction, this required extensive coordination with the owner and owner's engineers.➙ Managed contractors, including making sure of the implementation of approved ITPs/MS, FAT/SAT, QA/QC, and commissioning procedures by the contractors throughout project execution.

Project: Duba-1 (Green) 600 MW Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Power Plant (550 MW Combined Cycle, 2+2 +1 Configuration + 50 MW SolarDuring this stint, I was accountable for the review of project drawings and engineering documents for the plant E&I system. By leveraging strong analytical skills, I checked and ensured that all EPC documents/submittals/deliverables were in full compliance with standards. Provided a leadership role for the execution of all installation, pre-commissioning/commissioning, and start-up tests of electrical & instrumentation systems for steam turbine – auxiliary equipment, GTGs, HRSGs, water treatment system, seawater intake system, start-up boiler, fuel oil system, gas compressors system, F&G system, GE Mark VIe & Mark VIeS DCS Control system, PLC control system, local control panels, the low current system, rotating machinery, solar plant, and BOP systems.Some of my contributions include managing overall instrument loop checking activity, control valve operation/stroke tests, function tests of the plant equipment, and control logic/interlock/protection tests for power trains, BOP systems, and rotating machinery. Handled the installation, hook-up, wiring interconnection, testing, start-up, and operation activities of field instrumentation, flow meters, and analyzers.𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒆𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑨𝒓𝒆:➙ Ensured the efficient working of the plant with zero defects by executing routine and preventive maintenance tasks.➙ Kept vigilance of plant machinery, leading to attaining plant-guaranteed net MW output with minimal outage.➙ Guaranteed flawless and smooth handing-over of the power plant facility/operation in close collaboration with the client, contractor, and O&M.➙ Controlled plant shutdown activities, such as troubleshooting of VFD’s for gas compressors, troubleshooting of gas chromatographs, DCS Logic modifications, commissioning of BOP systems, and borescope inspection of the generator.

(02 X SGT6-3000E- frame W501D5A 2x 100MW) – Siemens Westinghouse Gas TurbinesAt this company, I served as an owner engineer’s site manager, responsible for delivering exceptional assistance to the company/client with Project Management, quality control, and project execution efforts, leading to delivering the project per time and budgetary constraints. While acting as a subject matter expert, dealing with all the technical/commercial matters – DCN, FCN, deviations, NCRs, and variation orders for instrumentation and control systems. Led the responsibilities of erection, testing/commissioning, start-up, and operation of the plant's electrical, control, and instrumentation system. Supervised and streamlined the overall operation of the EPC Contractors aimed at ensuring and maintaining compliance with AFC drawings, QC procedures, ITP, MS, and HSE guidelines throughout the project execution.Managed installation, hook-up, wiring interconnection, and instrument loop checks; controlled valve stroke testing, start-up, and operation activities of power plant field instrumentation, flow meters, and analyzers. The core focus of my role was performing routine and preventive maintenance activities for instrumentation and control equipment at the plant from the erection until the defect liability period. 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒆𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑨𝒓𝒆:➙ Controlled plant shutdown activities conducted by OEM and EPC contractors, such as the addition of substation circuit breakers, automatic generation control, and third-party systems in the Siemens T-3000 DCS control system. ➙ Monitored GTG’s first fire, FSNL test, unit synchronization, AVR test, PSS test, load variation test, load rejection test, RTR test, controllers tuning, GTG tuning/optimization, heat rate/ performance test, and COD test.➙ Analyzed and troubleshoot GTG’s high-vibration issues by executing well-planned practices.
